Job Description
Statement of Duties: Works under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Youth Services, provides excellent customer service to library patrons of all ages with a focus on teen patrons. Performs related tasks as required or assigned. Duties include:
- Supports the teen librarian with events and preparing for programs.
- Monitors teen/patron behavior while in the Teenspace, modeling desired behavior creating a safe and welcoming space.
- Assists in program development and may conduct programs in the building or through outreach to the community.
- Provides basic reference and reader’s advisory assistance in person and by phone in the Teenspace. Determines availability of materials by using catalog.
- Assists patrons in locating materials using the catalog, databases, internet, and other relevant resources. Answers directional inquiries.
- Provides assistance and patron support at public services desk, phones, email, chat or other means of communication.
- Performs a variety of tasks to assist in creating book displays.
- Assists with collection management and maintenance. Moving and shelving, repairing, shelf reading and weeding materials as needed.
- Helps keep the Teenspace clean and tidy; includes straightening furniture and wiping surfaces.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Provides services on evenings and weekends as required.

It is located approximately 12 miles south of downtown Providence, Rhode Island; 63 miles southwest of Boston, Massachusetts; and 171 miles northeast of New York City. Warwick was founded in 1642 by Samuel Gorton and is known as the second largest city in the state of Rhode Island. This city is known for its location near the salt-water beaches and the abundance of colonial history it has to offer.
